Glow with the Flow
Neon Experience (2.5 Hours)
Service Description
Glow with the Flow Neon Experience (2.5 Hours) Instructor Stephanie Lifshutz Bring your artistic vision to life by creating your own neon light! In this hands-on introductory workshop, you'll learn the entire process of turning hollow glass tubes into beautiful, glowing neon art. Starting with the basics of glass tube bending using a torch, you'll make your own geometric shape to take home. By the end of the class, you'll have completed your very own shape. Once your piece is ready, you’ll watch as it’s pumped with noble gas and lit up. The class will conclude with a step-by-step guide on how to wire, mount (for indoor use), and care for your neon art before you take it home. What to Expect: Neon art is a fascinating and intricate craft. During this intro session, you’ll create a basic neon shape or squiggle (no text). You’ll work with glass tubing and a torch to carefully bend and shape the glass into your design. Eligibility: No prior experience needed. Open to participants aged 18 and older. Pick-up: You will typically leave the class with your completed neon piece. However, if the instructors are unable to pump your piece during the session, you will need to return to Var Gallery at a later time to pick it up. This is an in-person class held at Var Gallery & Studios. Register Early: We recommend signing up in advance to secure your spot. Early registration helps us plan for materials and instructors based on student numbers. Classes with low enrollment may be canceled within two weeks of the start date. If you have any questions or need to set up a payment plan, feel free to contact us at info@vargallery.com. Preparing for Class: We recommend students bring a notebook and a water bottle to in-person classes. All essential materials and supplies for the class will be provided. If you wish to use specific tools or materials not supplied, you’ll need to bring them yourself. Studio Attire: For your safety, protective eyewear must be worn at all times in the Neon Studio. We’ll provide the appropriate eyewear for you. Please wear suitable work attire—flammable or synthetic fabrics, sandals, and open-toed shoes are not allowed. Long hair must be tied back for safety.
